Jill Messham

Jill brings almost 30 years’ experience in education and system leadership, having led schools, a Local Authority Education and SEND service and a Multi-Academy Trust.

Throughout her career, she has been driven by a strong moral purpose and commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people. Her experience spans school and trust leadership, school improvement, SEND, governance and strategic organisational development. She has served as a Local Leader of Education, chaired a Primary Heads Forum and contributed to the RISE programme, as well as previously serving on the board of a social housing organisation.

As an experienced system leader and serving CEO, Jill has worked closely with the Department for Education, Ofsted, the Diocese and a number of Local Authorities. She brings to the Trust Board a strong understanding of accountability and regulatory frameworks, strategic risk, organisational stewardship and the opportunities and challenges facing schools and academy trusts.

Collaboration and professional generosity are central to her approach to leadership. She is passionate about mentoring and coaching others, developing leadership capacity and sharing expertise across the education sector to support sustainable improvement.

Jill was particularly attracted to CDLT by its mission to shape better futures for children, staff and communities and the strong alignment between the Trust’s values and her own commitment to the transformative power of education. She joins the Trust Board at an important stage in CDLT’s development and looks forward to contributing her experience to its strategic direction, organisational sustainability and continued growth.
